HYPOTHYROID PROGRAM

Hypothyroidism also called underactive thyroid disease, is a common disorder. With Hypothyroidism your thyroid gland does not make enough thyroid hormone. The thyroid gland is located in the front lower part of your neck. Hormones released by the gland travel through your bloodstream and affect nearly every part of your body, from your heart and brain, to your muscles and skin

If you have hypothyroidism is very important to know that the type of diet you follow can help you reduce your symptoms, and at the same time help you control your weight. Weight gain goes hand in hand with hypothyroidism and to some people it gets rather difficult to lose weight with this condition. There are key nutrients and foods that a diet for hypothyroid should include. On the other hand, there are certain foods that should be avoided.


Include :-

  • Unrefined carbohydrates, such as whole grains like oats, barley brown rice, and porridge.
  • Calorie percentages: 30% complex carbohydrates, 40% protein, 30% fat.
  • Use coconut oil for cooking.
    • Make fiber the mainstay of your diet.
    • Fresh fruits.
    • Non-starchy fresh vegetables.
    • acne, oily skin, or dandruff
    • Activities that you enjoy.
    • At least 10-15 glasses of water daily.
    • Healthy nutrition, exercise, lots of water; a positive approach to life and happiness to control Hypothyroidism.


      Avoid :-

    • Turnips, cabbage, mustard, soy, peanuts, pine nuts, and millet, raw cabbage.
    • Refined carbohydrate foods like: white-flour bread-snacks, processed cereals and sugary soft drinks, instant rice/pasta, and cookies.
    • Sweetened juice, canned fruit in heavy syrup, or sweetened apple sauce.
    • Starchy vegetables like potatoes, corn, and peas.
    • Smoking and alcohol.
    • Processed and canned foods, as well as foods high in salt like papad, pickle and chips.
    • Butter, ghee and margarine.
    • Caffeine rich beverages.
    • Red meat.
    AYURVEDIC APPROACH TO HYPOTHYROIDISM

    Hypothyroidism does not attack those who consume adequate quantities of milk, old rice, barley, green grams, Bengal grams, sugarcane juice, cucumber and other milk products.

    Management of Hypothyroidism:

    Step One: Consume Whole foods and foods high in Vitamin B. whole grains, nuts, fish, root vegetables, raw fruits and vegetables.

    Step Two: Exercise: Try to get at least 30-60 minutes of activity a day, 5 times a week.

    Step Three: Deep Breathing and Meditation. Stress can be a factor in hypothyroid disorders. Learning to trigger a relaxation response can help in dealing with stress, therefore help in improving thyroid.

    Step Four: Make sure to get enough sun exposure. Adequate Vitamin D levels support a healthy immune function and calcium metabolism. 15-20 minutes 2x daily supplement during winter months with light therapy.

    Step Five: Emotional: Resolve emotional issues that may be contributing to stress, which affects thyroid function.

    Step Six: Include food sources rich in- Zinc, Iodine, Copper, Manganese, Molybdenum

    Step seven: Avoid Fluoride: Chlorine and Fluoride BLOCK iodine receptors in the thyroid gland. Less Iodine = Less hormone production.

    Step eight: Avoid Stimulants: Coffee and alcohol can upset the glandular system, resulting in imbalance.

    Step Nine: Cleanse: Do a full body cleanse/ detox at least once in a while to free the body from accumulated toxins and impurities.

    Step Ten: Yoga: Poses to improve blood flow towards the neck, where thyroid is located.
